10 Beauty Hacks for Girls:
These 10 beauty hacks are in no particular order. That’s because there was simply no way to pick a favorite! These beauty hacks are all incredible! So let’s just start with the oils:
#1 Baby Oil
For some reason after infancy we stop using baby oil on our skin. Why? Baby oil is also great for adults. It works to MAINTAIN moisture in your skin (which is especially awesome in the winter when your skin can get dry and crack). I have been putting a small amount of baby oil on my skin after every shower for about 14 years now. When I first started it would just sit on top of my skin and I would be super oily all day. I would put a little baby powder on top of to help minimize the oiliness. However, after a little while, my skin started to absorb the oil. That is when I really started noticing the effects. Everyone is always amazed by how soft my skin is. I will never use another product on my skin.
There are options too with baby oils. There is the original and then there is baby oil with aloe and vitamin E. I buy the oil with aloe and E. Aloe helps with the healing properties of your skin and can help to minimize the appearance of scaring and stretch marks. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and helps to support the immune system, skin health and cellular function. Both may also help to reduce UV damage.

#2 Caster Oil
So I made a mistake last year. I went to a Great Clips and told the stylist to do whatever she wanted to my hair… She gave me bangs… However, a year later, they are fully grown out!
Castor oil promotes hair strength and growth. Doing a caster oil treatment on your hair 2-3x a week can increase the speed of hair growth by 4x! Not only that, but it will also become fuller, stronger, shinier, and softer!
How to do a caster oil treatment:
- Wet hair until slightly damp. (I simply wet a brush and run it through my hair.)
- Apply about 2 tbsp of caster oil to roots of hair.
- Massage into scalp and pull through hair with fingers.
- Leave on for at least 30 minutes. (I do mine at night and just sleep with it on.)
- Wash hair as usual.
Other oils that work with caster oil to aid in promoting hair health that I like to combine with caster oil are:
- Tea Tree Oil– (about 6 drops) this prevents build up of chemicals and dry skin. I use this is combination with caster oil because I color my hair and use products on it as well.
- Lavender Oil– (about 6 drops) this is especially nice at night because of it’s ability to relieve stress and anxiety. I use a combination of lavender and castor oil on my daughter’s hair and it has grown from barely a pony tail last summer to halfway down her back this summer!

#3 Vitamin E Oil
Vitamin E oil is a super moisturizer! Applying vitamin E oil to your skin can help:
- Alleviate sun burns.
- Decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Help to heal and reduce the appearance of scars.
- Reduce itching/irritation from dry skin/eczema.
#4 Fish Oil
Looking to lose a few pounds? Did you know that fish oil can help you to do just that? Fish oil has been shown to:
- Help you lose fat and build muscle.
- Decrease your appetite.
- Minimize fat storage in the body.

**For us women (and since this is beauty hacks for girls), getting enough fiber, Magnesium, and Vitamin D also facilitate weight loss. Especially belly fat.

#5 Baby Wipes
I had no idea how much I was missing out on the GLORY of baby wipes until I had kids! Baby wipes are gold! I use them for everything! However, one of my favorite uses is as makeup remover wipes! Not only do they work just as well (if not better) they are also about 1/6 of the price!
#6 Mascara for Grays
This one is for all my dark hair mamas out there! I used to buy root cover up spray for my grays between colorings. However, now I simply buy a cheap dark brown/black mascara just for my roots! After towel drying but before blow drying, I simply brush it on the gray roots and continue to brush it through and finish styling my hair! So easy and SO much cheaper!
#7 Brush on Foundation
The problem with foundation is that it really doesn’t matter if you buy the bottom of the barrel or the top of the line, if you’re applying it wrong it will look cakey! The best tool to use when applying foundation is actually a blush brush! The brush will feather out the foundation naturally so that it blends with your skin without picking up extra oils or fibers that will weigh it down or clump it up!
When using this blush brush beauty hack though, make sure that you wash your brushes regularly to prevent build up and bristling!
#8 Whisk Your Bubble Bath
A nice, relaxing bubble bath is the best way to end a long day! However, it seems that when you follow the directions and pour the capful in while running your bath, you hardly get any bubbles! And bubble bath can be expensive! So next time you go to take a bath bring a whisk with you! When you use a whisk to mix up your bubble bath, you will have bubbles galore! I bet that if you use a hand mixer you will get even more but don’t try that one at home! 😉
#9 DIY Nail Polish Remover
As the mom of two little girls, I am always very aware of what I am using on and around them. Nail polish remover is one thing that I avoid having in the house. However, we still like to do our nails! On my girls I use Townley Peel Off Nail Polish so that they don’t even have to use a remover. But for myself, I use a non-toxic polish and then I make my own DIY nail polish remover!
To make this DIY nail polish remover:
- Mix equal parts lemon juice and white vinegar.
- Soak a cotton ball in mixture and then hold on nail for 10 seconds.
- Wipe off polish.
**For easier removal, soak nails in warm water for about 10 minutes before removal. Perfect after bath activity!
#10 Coffee Ground Eye Mask
A coffee ground eye mask works to alleviate puffy eyes, dark circles and fine lines.
To make this coffee ground eye mask simply:
- Mix 2 tsp ground coffee (**unused works best) with one egg white.
- Whisk until frothy (you can use your bath whisk 😉 )
- Apply mask around puffy eyes. May also apply to the rest of your face. *If you have extra puffy eyes, place mask in fridge for 15 minutes before use.*
- Let it sit for 10 minutes. (Have a cup of coffee!)
- Wipe or wash mask away!
