Kingswood Park Habitat Restoration Community Day
Kingswood Park 4188 Irwin Simpson Rd, Mason, OHJoin us as we remove harmful invasive Honeysuckle and Callery Pear! Volunteers will hand saw/trim plants and trees and help drag them to the chipper area. Everyone is welcome! Please visit our website to learn more and register. https://ohioriverfdn.org/support-us/volunteer/ Why remove invasive Callery Pear and Honeysuckle? Pear and Honeysuckle are quickly taking over in our watershed. If not controlled, these invasive plants will cause environmental and economic harm to an ecosystem. Invasive species spread rapidly and quickly shade-out the healthy variety of wildflowers, grasses, and trees. Eventually, an ecosystem is dominated with invasive species. Left with nowhere to live, the bees, butterflies, birds, and other critters move away. By removing these two species, the Kingswood Park ecosystem will begin to function as it once did, naturally. There will be room once again for local wildflowers, grasses, and trees to spread and thrive.
