Five Must Haves for Girl Moms
In a world of millions of products it is nearly impossible to find the best ones without wasting a ton of money first. This is especially true when you are the mom of a little girl! Us girl moms have it HARD! I know that it’s not just me that finds everything “girly” to be darling! I have definitely spent my fair share of money on things for my daughter and, disappointingly, she only uses about a fourth of them! So, to hopefully help other mom’s of little girls that are overwhelmed with all of the adorable girl products, I have compiled a list of my daughter’s top five favorite things that should be MUST haves for all girl moms!
#5 Must Haves for Girl Moms : Squishmallows Pillow
My sister-in-law turned me on to this one because of how much her daughter (7) likes her pillow. Thank goodness she did because my daughter (2) LOVES her “squishy”! They are all super adorable, like unicorn cat above and this pineapple guy:
And they are SUPER comfortable! We just went through a phase where my daughter wouldn’t fall asleep unless I was laying on the floor of her room and I would always use her Squishmallow to lay on. It is so comfy that 9 times out of 10 I would fall asleep before her! No wonder this is her go-to nap on the couch pillow! And I have a feeling that later on, down the road, this will be her go-to sleepover pillow!
#4: Mommy & Me LaLa Leggings
This one I just found recently. After finding out that we are about to adopt our second little girl, my husband and I made the decision that I was now going to be a stay-at-home mom. Since I have been home my wardrobe has definitely changed! I am all about stylish comfort!
I had a few pairs of leggings before but none of them were that comfortable. The waist was always too low or tight and would squeeze me in unflattering ways. Or they would fit well but when I bent over you could almost see through them. So I started searching for better quality leggings. However, I also really didn’t want to spend a ton of money on that perfect pair.
Then I found LaLa Leggings. What first attracted me to it, besides how cute they were, was the price. They are super affordable and after I joined their email list I was able to get an extra 10% off!
As I looked through the site though, I found that not only do they make leggings in tons of sizes and styles for me, but also for my daughter! They have a baby line as well as a Mommy & Me line which made them an instant MUST HAVE for girl moms!
The baby leggings are a bit thicker than the adult leggings which is perfect for keeping her warm and being more indestructible for playtime. I got my daughter the Baby Shark ones for now but after our second daughter is born I am going to buy us all matching leggings!
The one thing that I did find a bit odd with LaLa Leggings is their sizing. They have different sizes for curvier women but as an average sized woman I had to order size OS (one size). I was a little nervous about this at first because I didn’t know if they would fit (I am a 6 or 8 in “normal” pants sizing. However, they fit perfectly!
They are the perfect amount of stretchy to fit all sizes and still have no “see through” spots. And they are SO soft! I am living in these things now and so is my daughter! Hers are a 2-4T (she is a small 2T and can still fit in some 12-18 month bottoms) but they still fit her! Obviously, they are a bit on the baggy side on her but she can wear them for years which is a total mom win!!
PRO TIP: Leggings look super cute with oversized shirts and sweatshirts. Thread Tank makes so many great ones! Sometimes I just go on their site to just check out what new, sassy ones they have designed now!
#3: Townley Girl Disney Princess Peel-Off Nail Polish
My daughter is only two and she is already OBSESSED with her nails. If I am doing a craft with her with acrylic paint, she paints her nails. If she is playing with Play-Doh, she puts it on her nails. And of course, if I am doing my nails she has me do hers too.
However, her nails never turn out that well because she is TWO and won’t sit still long enough for them to dry. Even if I use a hair dryer on them they won’t dry all the way and they end up all messed up. Also, as a mom, I am worried about doing her nails too much because of the fumes from the paint and then from the remover when they don’t turn out well. Then I found Townley Girl Nail Polish.
Townley Girl polishes are non-toxic, water-based and bubble gum scented. They also dry super quickly so that she can get back to playing right away without having to wait. And there is no need for nail polish remover! The polish just peels off! She loves it, especially all of the color options! And it eases my mind knowing that it is safe for her! A definite on the must haves for girl moms list!
#2: Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lip Balm
I have yet to meet a little girl that isn’t interested in makeup! Of course I bought my daughter all the pretend makeup and she likes to play with that. However, even at two, she knows that it is not the real thing! So whenever she gets the chance, she is going through my purse to get my chap stick to put on. After noticing that a few times she wasn’t only putting it on but also either licking it or biting it I started to do some research. That is when I found Burt’s Bees.
Burt’s Bees is made with all-natural ingredients, so it is safe for the littles, even if they eat it! And to maximize it’s moisturizing effects, it is infused with bee’s wax and Vitamin E, which is also the vitamin that aids the healing process. (I put vitamin E oil on scars to reduce their appearance.)
PRO TIP: You can also use Burt’s Bees under your child’s nose when it becomes chapped from having a runny nose!
#1 Must Haves for Girl Moms: Wet Brush
This is my number one on my must haves for girl moms list for a reason! I SWEAR by this product!
I always considered myself to have a “hard head”. When I was younger, I was an Irish dancer and for shows and competitions we had to have curly hair. Before wigs became popular in the Irish dance world, our mom’s would have to sponge curl our hair. This involved roughly 150 sponge curlers in my hair almost every weekend! If you have ever used sponge curlers you know that they don’t always come out so easily and you have to sometimes rip them from your head! Needless to say, my head can take a beating. However, just because it can, doesn’t mean that it should have to!
I hadn’t heard of a Wet Brush until my friend, who is also a hairdresser, bought me one. When I first started using it, I did notice that it was SO much easier to brush through my hair after a shower. But I thought that maybe that was due to less tangles because of my conditioner. Yet, I kept using the brush. Then one day, I misplaced the brush (it fell behind my other hair products) and I used a regular brush. OUCH! I never realized how much it actually hurts to detangle your hair with a regular brush!
And then I had a daughter. When I was little and when I used to babysit I always used detangle spray before brushing through wet hair to reduce the pain of it. I have NEVER used any products besides shampoo (not even conditioner) on my daughter and she has NO problems with me brushing through her hair. And that is solely attributed to this brush! My Mom, her Mimi, is always amazed that my daughter will let me do her hair all the time. If I didn’t have this brush, I guarantee that would not be the story!
Right now, we share the same brush (the purple brush my friend gave me years ago!). However, I currently have three on our Amazon baby registry for the baby, my two-year-old and myself! When looking for the new brushes for the registry I found that there are more options than just the purple one that I have! They make cute ones for kids like this Little Mermaid one:
And they also make ones that assist in a quicker drying time like this ombre one:
