For Goodness Cake
For Goodness Cake is a super easy cake recipe made with yellow cake mix and instant pudding! One bite will surely have you saying, “For Goodness Cake!!”. Sour cream cakes, like this one, are incredibly moist and simply melt in your mouth! Adding to that, cooking this cake for a long time at a low temperature keeps all that moisture in and the cake cooked evenly throughout!
I love serving this cake after having a soul satisfying dinner. It’s simply the icing on the cake. No pun intended 🙂

Equipment needed for this yellow cake mix cake recipe:
- Stand mixer
- Tube Pan **or Bundt
Shopping List for a For Goodness Cake:
- 1 box Yellow Cake Mix
- 3 oz Instant Pudding
- Vegetable Oil
- Sour Cream
- Eggs
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Chopped Walnuts
- Cinnamon
For icing (optional):
- Confectionary Sugar
- Butter
- Vanilla Extract
- milk or water
How to make this incredible tube cake:
For Cake:
- Preheat oven to 325F. Prepare tube pan by spraying with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
- Beat cake mix, pudding, oil, sour cream and eggs in a stand mixer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together sugars, nuts and cinnamon.
- Set aside 3 T.
- Fold the remaining mixture into the cake.
- Pour batter into tube pan.
- Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture.
- Bake for 60 minutes in pre-heated oven.
- Allow to cool in pan completely before removing from pan.
- Slice and serve as is OR add a simple glaze.
For Glaze:
- Sift powdered sugar into a bowl.
- Melt butter and add it to the sugar.
- Add vanilla and milk/water as well until you are happy with the consistency.
- Pour over removed, cooled cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Let set and then slice and serve!
How to store this cake:
Cover and store on the counter for up to one week or in the fridge for two weeks.

- 1 c Sour Cream
- 4 LG Eggs
- 1/4 c Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 c Brown Sugar **firmly packed
- 3/4 c Chopped Walnuts
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
For icing (optional):
- 2 c Confectionary Sugar **sifted
- 4 tbsp Butter **melted
- 1.5 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2-4 tbsp milk or water **until desired consistency
Instructions
