Over the Top Date Ideas | Build Your Own Epic Date
My husband planned this date one time back when we were dating that absolutely blew my socks off. He did this multi-step, scavenger hunt that was so thrilling and sexy it will forever be my most memorable date. If you are planning for a birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s Day, a proposal, or just looking for over the top date ideas this is IT! However, you don’t have to do everything that he did. You can build your own epic date and pick and choose what you do…
Put your own spin on these ideas for an over the top date:
#1 Send them flowers/candy arrangement with a sentiment plus an instruction.
(My husband sent them to my work and they told me to go to a specific store in the mall after work and ask for Jessica.)
**If only doing this then just tell them where to meet you for the date.
# 2 Have something already purchased for them from a store that they are to pick up.
(After I asked for Jessica she handed me a bag with an outfit in it. There was a note to: change into the outfit, go to the restaurant across the street, sit at the bar, relax and have a drink and appetizer that was already paid for.)
**Have them pick up an item that pertains to whatever the date is. (i.e. If you are going to a Football game, buy them a jersey.)
Related Post:
#3 Surprise them somewhere they thought they were going to be alone.
(Halfway through my drink and starting in on the appetizer I was feeling a little awkward at the bar alone and started to think he wasn’t showing up there. Maybe there was going to be another clue… But then he came in! It was the coolest feeling! It was like we were meeting for the first time again.)
#4 Dinner at a nice restaurant AND at a romantic table. (A table where you can be alone. Not a table in the center of the room.)
(After the appetizer we moved to a table to have dinner. We were at Ember’s.)
#5 Plan an over-night without them knowing. Pack a bag for them and have it ready to go.
(After dinner we got in the car and started driving. We went south on the expressway when we should have gone north. I questioned it. He said we weren’t going home. We were going to the casino and spending the night! When I expressed the need for an overnight bag, he said it was already in the trunk…OF THE CAR I WAS DRIVING ALL DAY!)
**More ideas:
-concert
-play
-movie
-show
-comedy club
–Sybaris **If you live near one of their US locations. (We went here the night after we got engaged. I recommend if you want to be intimate.)
-sporting event
-festival
-over-night somewhere semi-close
It really doesn’t matter if you do all of this date or just some of it, I can almost guarantee that it will blow them away! The thought that is put into it and the surprise factor in each step make it an epic date!

I’d love number 4. More so now as I’ve not eaten a meal out in over a year. That would be my favourite date idea.

These are all wonderful ideas. My husband and I don’t really do Valentine’s Day though. We just like to stay home and watch movies together.

Cool ideas and they are so useful when you have been married as long as I have. Keeping that spark alive with one of those dates is a great way.
