Super Easy Pizza Dough
With only 5 ingredients and 10 minutes of prep time, this super easy pizza dough recipe makes EVERY pizza night that much MORE FUN! This is, hands down, the best pizza dough recipe and the ONLY recipe I use anymore! My kiddos love to help me make it and (even more) love to help EAT it!
Homemade pizza dough is always better than any store bought dough. The trouble is that most pizza dough recipes take a lot of time and require things that we don’t always have on hand! Not any more! This is the best pizza dough recipe there is because it requires no time, very little effort, and you probably have everything needed for it in your cabinet or pantry right now!
So stop with the store bought and really impress the family tonight with a quick and easy homemade pizza!
Here’s what you need for this super easy pizza dough:
Equipment Needed:
Shopping List:
- 1 tbsp Active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp Granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 2-2.5 c All purpose flour
- 1 tsp Salt
Optional Add-ins:
- 1 tsp Parsley **optional
- 1 tsp Garlic powder **optional
- 1 tsp Dried basil **optional
How to Make the Super Easy Pizza Dough:
- Preheat oven to 450F.
- Grease pizza stone/pan and set aside.
- Place sugar and yeast in large mixing bowl.
- Add warm water and stir to mix.
- Let sit for 5 minutes or until yeast mixture starts to look frothy and bubble.
- Gently stir in olive oil.
- Add the salt (and other seasonings if using) and 2 cups of flour.
- Mix with a spatula until a ball forms. Adding more flour if needed.
- Transfer dough ball to a floured surface and knead until smooth (adding up to 1/2 cup more flour).
- **OPTIONAL** Oil the inside of the mixing bowl and place dough in bowl, turning over to coat in oil. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size. (Allowing to rise will result in a fluffier crust. However, rising is not necessary for a delicious pizza dough!)
- Stretch or roll dough on a lightly floured surface into desired shape and thickness.
- Transfer dough to prepared pan/stone. Stretch again if needed.
- Using a fork, poke holes all over dough to reduce air pocket formation.
- Bake for 5 minutes on lower rack of oven.
- Remove from oven, top with desired toppings and bake for another 15-20 minutes (or until crust is lightly brown) on the lower rack.
- Remove from oven. Let cool. Slice and serve!
Substitutions:
All purpose flour: You can substitute a gluten-free all purpose flour in a 1:1 ratio. To make a whole wheat pizza dough, you can use whole wheat flour. I would suggest using half the amount of whole wheat flour than what is called for with all purpose.
Olive oil: Avocado oil or canola oil will also work!
Sugar: Honey can be substituted
How to Make Ahead of Time:
Once dough is formed, tightly wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place in fridge or freezer to store until use.
