Thrift Shop Review | thredUP or thredDOWN?
I was shopping at a thrift shop even before Macklemore made it cool. You can find some great stuff at consignment stores! The problem with it, however, is that the search for that perfect garment can take FOREVER! Now that I have two very young kids it’s hard to find the time or energy to spend on a thrift shop search. To make my life easier, I stopped thrift shopping and started doing all my shopping online. Then I came across thredUP. ThredUP is an ONLINE thrift shop and a game changer for all moms!
Why shop at a thrift shop?
Shopping at a thrift store is beneficial for the health of our planet. Recycling clothes is the same as recycling metal/plastic. Recycling clothes allows us to get more fashion cycles out of the same garment. Thus, it reduces the need for new production as well as reduces the amount of material in our landfills.
Shopping at a thrift shop is also beneficial for your wallet! Clothing can be expensive! Especially when it comes to kids clothing. Kids grow so quickly that they hardly even wear half of the clothes you buy for them!

What products does this unique thrift store carry?
ThredUP carries secondhand clothing for women, plus sizes, maternity, juniors and children as well as accessories, handbags, and shoes. **Although it is secondhand, a lot of what you will find is new clothing. My last purchase from thredUP was eight items and three of them still had the tags on them!

ThredUP sells their gently used, secondhand clothing for up to 90% off retail price! They also offer free shipping for orders over $79! You can also DONATE your used/ new clothing through thredUP!
Donating your clothing is a similar process to selling through thredUP. Simply request a bag and shipping label, choose a charity and send in your items! To make your first donation through these incredible thrift stores click HERE.
What I liked about my experience with thredUP consignment shop:
1. Pricing was incredibly fair compared to other consignment shops. I paid less than $10 per item. ThredUP is also always running specials and promotions to save you even more money!
2. Quality control. Within the item description there is “condition” category. This will tell you what to expect as far as how used or unused the secondhand clothes are. I chose mostly items that said, “Excellent condition. You might mistake it for brand new!”. However, I also purchased one item that stated it had minor signs of wear. All of the items I received looked perfect to me though! I was highly impressed with their quality control.
3. FREE shipping on orders over $79 always makes for a pleasant shopping experience!4. Making extra money by selling some of my used or new clothing that I don’t wear.5. Donating clothing items is so easy and I get to choose the charity to donate to!

What I disliked about my experience with thredUP consignment shop:
1. My order came in three different shipments over a period of four days. From the time I placed my order to receiving my full order took about a week. I think that I have been spoiled my Amazon Prime though and it’s reduced my patience for shipping!
2. If looking to make fast cash by selling clothes, thredUP is not your best option. You must be patient when selling through these second hand shops because you don’t get paid until/if the item sells. However, I like it when all of a sudden there is “surprise money” in my account!
Conclusion for this online thrift shop review: thredUP or thredDOWN???
ThredUP!! This online consignment shop is probably the only way I will be thrift shopping from here on out! It’s just so hard to find the time to go shopping when you have young children. Online shopping is just a must for me! I also LOVE saving money! With all of the children’s clothing that I have and will have to buy (especially with TWO GIRLS!), thredUP is a life saver!
Check thredUP online thrift shop out for yourself! Not only will you get up to 90% OFF retail price for high end brands and FREE shipping on orders of $79+, but I’ll also GIVE YOU $10 for your first purchase! Just click HERE to redeem and start shopping!
